What was the highlight of this past weekend?
That's a pretty lame question of the day. I hope there isn't going to be a, "What I Did Last Summer" question in a month or so. It was uncharacteristically warm here in San Francisco, to the point that I couldn't really stay in the apartment. So I spent a chunk of Saturday sitting on my balcony, beer next to me, laptop in front of me with World of Warcraft loaded.
What's the most extreme weather you've been in? A memorable storm? Heat wave? Or something else?
I actually answered this as a comment on Bobby's Vox but may as well put it here. Mine would be a blizzard I had to drive through in Vancouver. It was on the Sea to Sky highway that links Vancouver to Whistler. It's a narrow windy two lane highway (one lane each direction) that drops off vertically into water. I was leaving Whistler late after dinner and there was a blizzard. Visibility was poor but I was following a taxi. Then the taxi decided he didn't want to leave and pulled over. I passed the taxi and became the leader.
What's your favorite drink or cocktail? What's in it?

Assuming alcoholic beverages, wine and beer generally give me instant headaches but sometimes I'll go with light beers if I must (Pale Ales, Corona, etc). Most times I stick to the liquor. I have three staples.
- Vodka Redbull (Greygoose if I have a choice)
- 7 and 7 (Seagram 7 and 7Up)
- Maker's Mark on the rocks (first introduced by my friend Jeni in Austin and have since found others in SF that consume it like water)
First, some things I don't like about Vox:
- lack of ability to do inline html
- lack of ability to link pics from external (like other people's CC flickr pics)
- occasional wonky rendering on mac FF
- i can't make a page's design completely mine
- I can't add my own feeds like ok/cancel or my upcoming or my MyWeb bookmarks
Considering everything, that's not a long list. So here's the thing. Most of the people on right now HAVE a blog already. How are you guys deciding what to put here? Are you just messing around or do you think this will become your primary? Or the place for private posts only?
I was thinking about how I was enjoying this experience more and why. One of the reasons is that they auromatically show you new comments not just on your post but also ones that are subsequent to comments you've left elsewhere. I also really like the rich text editor and question of the days. At a more macro level, the social integrated feeling is really nice. That's when I realized something.
I don't look at my RSS much because it becomes overwhleming quickly. So I thought, "once Vox becomes overwhelming it won't be different." Or will it? Because I don't use Flickr's RSS much. Instead, I enjoy going to my contacts page and then surfing my friends' newest pics. It's the whole (shock) experience thing. And Vox does this really well. It's just a more pleasant surfing experience ot check out your friends blogs in one place. "Wanna see your friend's photos? Go to Flickr. Wanna see all your friends' latest musings in one spot? Vox."
What do you guys think? Keeper? Companion to your blog? Just a private side? Replacement?
What's the one CD that will totally remind you of the Summer of 2006?
A little early for that isn't it? Summer's only half over. So far, it's been marked by numerous things musically related:
- Attending Live 101's BFG 2006 featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand and The Strokes (as well as introducing me to a few bands I'd like to hear more of) with Leslie, Elea and Chelly (which, when written like that, sound like a girl band in their own right).
- Constant visits to Club Lamia (now "G3") and singing "You Give Love a Bad Name", "With or Without You", "1979", and cheesy boy band songs.
- Any song from Guitar Hero.
- Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" but much more because George Kelly played such an awesome acoustic rendition of it than its overplayed nature this summer
By this time, I couldn't really see anything past 5ft and while I, too, wanted to pull over, I couldn't even see if there was room to pull over or if I'd end up falling off a cliff. So for about half an hour to an hour, I was leading the convoy, my eyes focusing only on the reflectors on the lane separator because I couldn't see anything else.
